At Pearls of Motherhood, we believe some of the best perspectives come from the smallest voices. That’s exactly why we created our Junior Correspondents segment—an ongoing feature where kids share their honest, unfiltered takes on family life, adventures, and everything in between.

This summer, we were lucky enough to spend time with Luke, one of our very first Junior Correspondents, as he tackled one of the most exciting (and parent-tested) experiences out there: water parks.

Why We Created Junior Correspondents at Pearls of Motherhood

Motherhood often centers adult voices—experts, parents, caregivers—but kids experience the world in a completely different way. Junior Correspondents gives them the mic 🎤

This ongoing segment is about:

  • Letting kids share their opinions without editing the joy out of them
  • Seeing family experiences through a child’s eyes
  • Creating memories that matter more than perfection

Luke embodied all of that and more.

Luke’s Assignment: Reviewing the Water Parks

Luke is doing the work so you don’t have to!

When we told Luke he’d be our Junior Correspondent for the water parks, he took the role seriously—in the way only a kid can.

From towering slides to lazy rivers, Luke was all in. His mission was simple:

  • Try everything (at least once)
  • Notice what was fun, scary, surprising, or boring
  • Give his honest review—no parent coaching allowed

And yes, snacks were absolutely part of the research.

The Kid Perspective Parents Actually Need

What stood out most during our time with Luke wasn’t just how much fun he had—it was what he noticed.

While parents tend to focus on:

  • Lines
  • Logistics
  • Safety
  • Timing naps and meals

Luke cared about:

  • Which slide felt the fastest
  • Whether the water was “freezing or just a little cold”
  • If the wave pool was “epic” or “too splashy”
  • How long it took to get back to the snack stand

His reviews reminded us why these experiences matter in the first place.

Water Parks Through a Child’s Eyes

Spending the day with Luke at the water parks was a lesson in presence. Kids don’t rush the fun—they live inside it.

Luke taught us:

  • Anticipation is half the joy
  • Bravery doesn’t mean fear-free—it means trying anyway
  • The best memories often come from the simplest moments

And maybe most importantly: kids don’t need perfect days, just connected ones.

What This Experience Meant to Us as Moms

As moms, it’s easy to get caught up in managing the experience instead of enjoying it. Watching Luke reminded us to loosen our grip.

Let the shoes get wet. Let the schedule bend. Let the kids lead.

That’s the heart of Pearls of Motherhood—finding meaning in the mess and joy in the middle.

Luke, Thank You for Being a Junior Correspondent

Luke, you brought curiosity, enthusiasm, and so much personality to this role. Watching you explore the water parks reminded us why we started Junior Correspondents in the first place.

This is just the beginning.
